Bosco di Bomarzo
Il Parco dei Mostri, denominato anche Sacro Bosco o Villa delle Meraviglie di Bomarzo, in provincia di Viterbo, è un complesso monumentale italiano. Si tratta di un parco naturale ornato da numerose sculture in basalto risalenti al XVI secolo e ritraenti animali mitologici, divinità e mostri. Fu progettato dall’architetto e antiquario Pirro Ligorio su commissione del principe Pier Francesco Orsini nel 1547, elevando a sistema, le figure mitologiche rappresentate dal genere “grotesque”.
Anzio
Anzio è una località balneare a sud di Roma, nella provincia di Latina. L’antica città di Anzio, in latino Antium, fu per un lungo periodo capitale della popolazione dei Volsci. La sua spiaggia è ricca di stabilimenti balneari attrezzati, dove poter fare un bagno anche in autunno. E’ posibile praticare sport acquatici come kitesurf e windsurf. La più bella è sicuramente la spiaggia Grotta di Nerone, con spettacolari falesie a picco sul mare e sabbia dorata. L’area ha una grande valenza storica ed è l’ideale per una gita.
Lago di Nemi
Il lago di Nemi è un piccolo lago vulcanico, sui Colli Albani nel territorio dei Castelli Romani. Ed è l’unico lago italiano in cui vive il pesce re, specie sudamericana introdotta per favorire la pesca. Sin dall’antichità il lago di Nemi fu oggetto di una leggenda riguardante due navi favolose di dimensioni gigantesche, costruite in epoca romana, ricche di sfarzo e forse contenenti dei tesori, che sarebbero state sepolte sul fondo del lago per ragioni misteriose. Il lago era un apprezzato luogo di divertimenti e villeggiatura degli antichi romani e Tra l’altro, nelle vicinanze erano situati un bosco e un luogo di culto dedicati alla dea Diana.
Ostia Antica
Le rovine della città furono scavate a partire dagli inizi del XIX secolo. Sono conservate, insieme ai monumenti pubblici, numerose case di abitazione e strutture produttive, che ne fanno un’importante testimonianza della vita quotidiana antica. Nel 2014 gli scavi di Ostia e il suo museo sono stati il sedicesimo sito statale italiano più visitato, con più di 300.000 visitatori. Il Parco di Ostia Antica è, insieme a Pompei, il sito archeologico più grande del pianeta, con un’area di 150 ettari.
Villa Adriana
Villa Adriana è una residenza imperiale fatta realizzare presso Tivoli dall’imperatore Adriano. La struttura appare come un ricco complesso di edifici realizzati gradualmente ed estesi su una vasta area, ricca di fonti d’acqua. Nel 1999 Villa Adriana è stata dichiarata Patrimonio dell’umanità dall’UNESCO. Straordinaria era la ricchezza della decorazione architettonica e scultorea della villa che è stata oggetto di frenetiche e sistematiche ricerche a partire dal Rinascimento. Attualmente l’area visitabile è di circa 40 ettari.
Frascati
Frascati si trova nell’area dei Castelli Romani. In questo borgo sono visibili le Ville Tuscolane, sontuose residenze patrizie tardo rinascimentali e barocche, che la nobiltà romana volle farsi costruire nel verde dei Colli Albani. Oltre alle tante ville, Frascati offre chiese, piazze e vie da ammirare. È facilmente raggiungibile grazie al collegamento diretto via treno da Roma Termini.
Orte
Orte si trova in provincia di Viterbo. Il territorio è interessato da fenomeni di vulcanismo secondario, tra acque termali e solfatare. Di antiche origini, è probabilmente una delle città che costituivano la federazione etrusca. È possibile visitare Orte sotterranea, con la suggestiva visita dei cunicoli che costituivano l’antico acquedotto di epoca preromana, con fontane, cisterne e pozzi scavati nel basamento di tufo. Il paese è posto su un altura da cui è possibile scorgere panorami mozzafiato.
Terme di Saturnia
La sorgente termale di Saturnia sorge sull’antico sito eletto a luogo di villeggiatura termale sin dall’epoca etrusco-romana. Il nome Saturnia deriva dall’antica leggenda secondo cui il dio Saturno scagliò un fulmine che aprì un cratere dal quale sorse una sorgente di acqua calda e sulfurea, attualmente situata all’interno dell’area del resort. Il flusso d’acqua è di quasi 800 litri al secondo: ciò consente alla piscina sorgente e alle piscine del parco termale, un ricambio completo ogni 4 ore, per sei volte al giorno, rendendola incontaminata. Le acque di Terme di Saturnia hanno rinomate proprietà terapeutiche, donando relax e benessere al solo immergervisi.
Gola di Ponte Lupo
A Gallicano nel Lazio, vicino Viterbo, si trova Ponte lupo, precisamente all’interno della tenuta di San Giovanni in Campo Orazio di proprietà del Baliaggio di San Sebastiano della famiglia Barberini, istituito da Papa Urbano VIII nel 1633. Ponte Lupo è “il più famoso e il più interessante di tutti i ponti degli acquedotti” così asserisce Thomas Ashby, famoso archeologo britannico, sia per la grandiosità della costruzione di questo capolavoro d’ingegneria idraulica sia per il meraviglioso contesto di Agro Romano Antico in cui si trova. Da Ponte Lupo parte un percorso che porta all’omonima cascata.
Bomarzo Wood
The Park of Monsters, also called Sacred Wood or Villa of Wonders of Bomarzo, in the province of Viterbo, is an Italian monumental complex. It is a natural park adorned with numerous basalt sculptures dating back to the sixteenth century and depicting mythological animals, gods and monsters. It was designed by the architect and antiquarian Pirro Ligorio commissioned by Prince Pier Francesco Orsini in 1547, elevating to a system, the mythological figures represented by the genre “grotesque”.
Anzio
Anzio is a seaside resort south of Rome, in the province of Latina. The ancient city of Anzio, in Latin Antium, was for a long time the capital of the Volsci population. The beach of Anzio is full of bathing establishments equipped, where you can take a bath even in autumn. You can practice water sports such as kitesurfing and windsurfing. The most beautiful is certainly the beach Grotta di Nerone, with spectacular cliffs overlooking the sea and golden sand. The area has a great historical value and is ideal for a trip.
Lake Nemi
Lake Nemi is a small volcanic lake, on the Alban Hills in the territory of the Castelli Romani. Lake Nemi is the only Italian lake in which lives the king fish, a South American species introduced for fishing purposes. Since ancient times Lake Nemi was the subject of a legend about two fabulous ships of gigantic size, built in Roman times, rich in pomp and perhaps containing treasures, which would be buried at the bottom of the lake for mysterious reasons. The lake was a popular place of entertainment and vacation of the ancient Romans. Among other things, a forest and a place of worship dedicated to the goddess Diana were located nearby.
Ancient Ostia
The ruins of the city were excavated from the beginning of the 19th century. They are preserved, along with public monuments, numerous dwelling houses and productive structures, making it an important testimony of ancient daily life. In 2014, the excavations of Ostia and its museum were the sixteenth most visited Italian state site, with more than 300,000 visitors. The park of Ostia Antica is, together with Pompeii, the largest archaeological site on the planet, with an area of 150 hectares.

Villa Adriana is an imperial residence built near Tivoli by Emperor Hadrian. The structure appears as a rich complex of buildings built gradually and extended over a large area, rich in water sources. In 1999 Hadrian’s Villa was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Extraordinary was the richness of the architectural and sculptural decoration of the villa that has been the subject of frantic and systematic research since the Renaissance. Currently the visitable area is about 40 hectares.
Frascati
Frascati is located in the Castelli Romani area. In this village you can see the Ville Tuscolane, sumptuous patrician residences of the late Renaissance and Baroque, that the Roman nobility wanted to be built in the green of the Alban Hills. In addition to the many villas, Frascati offers churches, squares and streets to admire. It is easily reachable thanks to the direct connection via train from Roma Termini.
Orte
For a quiet day with family or friends, the town of Vignanello is certainly worth considering. An agricultural and tourist centre with ancient origins, this town still has glimpses of the past that can take you back to distant times. Here, in addition to visiting places of special interest such as the Ruspoli Castle, dating back to the sixteenth century, you can taste local food specialties such as “Tacchino all’arrabbiata”.
Thermal baths of Saturnia
The thermal spring of Saturnia rises on the ancient site elected as a thermal resort since the Etruscan-Roman era. The name Saturnia derives from the ancient legend according to which the god Saturn hurled a lightning bolt that opened a crater from which a source of hot water and sulfur arose, currently located within the resort area. The flow of water is almost 800 liters per second: this allows the spring pool and the pools of the thermal park, a complete change every 4 hours, 6 times a day, making it uncontaminated. The waters of Terme di Saturnia have renowned therapeutic properties, giving relaxation and well-being to just immerge.
Gorge of Ponte Lupo
Ponte Lupo is located within the estate of San Giovanni in Campo Orazio owned by the Bailiwick of San Sebastiano of the Barberini family, established by Pope Urban VIII in 1633. Ponte Lupo is “the most famous and the most interesting of all the bridges of the aqueducts” so asserts Thomas Ashby, famous British archaeologist, both for the grandeur of the construction of this masterpiece of hydraulic engineering and for the wonderful context of Ancient Roman Agro in which it is located. From Ponte Lupo starts a path that leads to the homonymous waterfall.
